New Beginnings Family Academy accepts applications year-round for GREAT teachers and administrators for our K-8 public charter school, serving 360 students in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Special Education Teacher. Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
- teaching elementary and middle school subjects to educationally and physically challenged students.
- instructing students in academic subjects, using a variety of techniques such as phonetics, multisensory learning, and repetition, in order to reinforce learning and to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- employing special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
- teaching socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
- modifying the general education curriculum for special-needs students based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- conferring with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development.
- maintaining accurate and complete student records, and preparing reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- administering standardized ability and achievement tests, and interpreting results to determine students' strengths and areas of need.
