FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR/BOOKKEEPER

New Beginnings Family Academy (NBFA) is seeking a full-time Food Service Supervisor/Bookkeeper to report to the Business Manager. This position supervises one 1.0 FTE and one to two 0.5 FTEs . Work hours are approximately 7:00AM to 3:00PM with ½ hour for lunch. The work year is 12 months with three weeks vacation through June 30, 2009, excluding the Holiday Break. Vacations are to be taken according to school calendar. Check with supervisor for work requirements in regards to other school closings. Sick (10) and personal (3) days will be prorated based upon date of hire. Individual will be eligible to participate in health, dental, disability, and life insurance plans maintained by NBFA.
The following are the major responsibilities of this position:
FOOD SERVICE
• Assist with development and communication of school food service policies and procedures between students, staff, and parents.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers of school meals, milk, and snacks.
• Distribution and review of free and reduced meal applications for proper determination.
• Informing guardians of status as free, reduced, or full pay.
• Reporting of counts of meals served to State of Connecticut Lunch Program on a monthly basis for purposes of obtaining reimbursements for applicable “free and reduced” meals.
• Submission of various reports to the State of CT National School Lunch Program as required.
• Maintenance of PowerLunch software.
• Preparing monthly invoices to guardians of full and reduced-pay students for meals served.
• Collection of monies and checks for meals served, including making phone calls and preparing and mailing account statements.
• Power Lunch entry of cash receipts for all amounts received by school for meal charges.
• Assistance with preparation and circulation of monthly menus.
• Oversee serving of daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Oversee meals for staff and board meetings as necessary.
• Oversee meals and snacks required for field trips.
• Maintenance of daily logs of receipt, serving, and disposal of food, milk, and snack supplies.
BOOKKEEPING
• Preparation of bank deposit of school cash receipts.
• Weekly trip to bank for school deposits.
• Entry of accounts payable into accounting software.
• Payment of accounts payable as directed by supervisor.
OTHER
• Assistance with ordering of office and school supplies as needed.
• Other clerical and support functions as requested by supervisor.
